Berlin, Sep 2, IRNA --
Hamburger SV coach Kurt Jara here Monday called the performance of his
Iranian star forward Mehdi Mahdavikia in his team's 6-0 elimination cup rout
over amateur club FC Schoenberg "pleasing", indicating his return to
the starting line-up, the bi-weekly kicker sports magazine reported.
"Considering that this was his first match (since his back surgery), his
performance was pleasing as he was looking for the one-on-one situation. He
has also caught up with the team," said Jara.
Meanwhile the former Pirouzi striker who did not play for Hamburg's pro-team
since February following a complicated disc surgery, expressed "a great
feeling to be able to play football again after this awful period".
The 25-year-old Mahdavikia came into Saturday's match in the 50th minute and
proved that he was a strong alternative to Hamburg's other right winger
Richard Kitzbichler.
